Director of Project Development
Overview:
The Director of Project Development (DPD) is responsible for design and development of our in-house design projects.
Our design projects begin with from concept sketches through complete construction documents. Understanding the client's construction budget prior to commencing a design project is a key aspect of this position to custom tailor the design to the budget.
The Director of Project Development is responsible for providing a constant flow of work to production by successfully developing projects as well as growing and maintaining the professional relationship between the Company and Client.
In addition, the Director is to assist in ensuring that the construction of the projects is performed as designed, cost effectively, expeditiously and at the highest level of quality. He/She is to interface with our Clients and Production Department to solicit feedback to ensure customer satisfaction. He/She is to interface with the Estimating Department and the Production Department to ensure that there is a smooth hand off from Design to Estimating and proper communication between Design & Production. The Director should strive for a harmonious and profitable experience for the Company.
The Director is expected to participate in the development of the operating system of the organization, to contribute continuously to the innovation required to move the organization into the top of its class, and to aid the organization in performing always at the highest level of service and quality.
Design:
- Meet & greet prospective clients
- Develop Client's wish list and budget
- Perform as-built measurements and drawings
- Perform concept sketches and revisions
- Perform construction drawings for permit submittal & final pricing
- Develop specifications, schedules, sections & details
- Coordinate with Estimating department for preliminary, periodic and final pricing
- Perform and deliver Meeting Minutes for signature by all parties
Sales & Marketing:
- Deliver & Present Design-Build Agreements to prospective clients
- Educate prospective clients on Company procedures & services
- Coordinate Contract cost changes and changes to the Scope of Work
- Field new design leads and follow up
- Maintain customer satisfaction throughout the entire project to completion
Project Management:
- Perform on-going assistance to Project Management Team
- Periodic site visits to ensure design is followed and quality maintained
- Coordinate & evaluate changes to the Scope of Work
- Maintain Client contact throughout project to ensure satisfaction
Administrative:
- Maintain project schedules and allocate resources for timely completion of all design projects
- Manage design personnel and vendors to accomplish project goals
- Manage department to accomplish Company goals
- Maintain accurate records for: Client communications, invoicing & organization of all design documents and electronic files
- Investigate alternative production methods & design or administrative software to increase efficiency and communication
- Monitor and achieve financial goals of department
- Attend educational seminars for continuing education
- Earn Association degrees and credentials related to position
